Beachfront House New Build

THE PROJECT

Initially Lisa and Rob fell in love with characteristics of my earthy, rustic design showroom in Te Puna.

They wanted to build a beach version along the same concept, so my son a designer and I, worked alongside them to re-establish the way they would live near the beach and on the waterfront of Bowentown.

Instead of capturing the views and living upstairs, the home integrates with the land so that the interaction between everyone staying at this property, is heightened.  The flow between the inside and outside areas is great, with a communal deck being the central pivot of this. 

The beach, sauna, lying on the grass, growing veges, gardening and entertaining is all so easy.

A black Engel fire, large solid timber sliding doors that open to the outside, that also shield the elements when necessary and an interactive social kitchen and living area, with a high pitched stud gives a very light, airy feel to this stunning relaxing beach retreat.

Beautiful, casual, inspiring and relaxing – it has it all!

We had the pleasure of working with Lynette and Kane Lochhead on the design of our beach house in Bowentown, Waihi.

Kane, Lynette’s son, designed the house and his creativity and attention to detail made him a true asset to the whole project, start to finish. He achieved a wonderful balance of style and comfort to the house. From the outset Kane understood our unique vision to create a cozy, intimate setting nestled amongst the sand dunes and native foliage, with the flexibility to open up when extended family and friends came to stay.

Lynette embraced the whole beach house concept, designing an interior that feels earthy, organic, welcoming and warm. Lynette’s keen eye for colour and texture makes it feel like a true sanctuary.

Both Kane and Lynette have achieved the perfect synergy between the design and the interior.
